How Home Done rankings work
Home Done helps you compare home service providers at a glance. We pull together publicly available information — Google reviews, business credentials, and profile details — so you can spend less time researching and more time getting the job done.
What drives rankings
Businesses appear in order based on four factors, weighted by how useful each is for helping you make a decision:
Star rating compared to others in their category. Higher ratings rank higher.
More Google reviews means more data points. Businesses with a strong track record of feedback rank higher.
Publicly available information like ABN registration, QBCC licence, and GST status. Having these on file helps.
Businesses that share pricing, photos, service areas, and availability give you more to work with — and rank higher for it.
What the badges mean
Badges tell you how much a business has invested in their Home Done presence. They're not a quality rating — a business without a badge can still have excellent reviews and credentials.
Can businesses pay to rank higher?
Not exactly. A paying business with poor Google reviews will never outrank a free listing with great reviews. Google data carries the most weight.
What paying does is give a business more ways to share information — pricing, photos, availability, service areas. Between two businesses with similar reviews, the one with a more complete profile will appear higher. Premium members also get featured placement in dedicated sections on category pages, clearly labelled as such.
What Home Done doesn't do
We're a matchmaker, not a regulator. We help you find the right pro faster by pulling together information that's already out there. We don't:
- Inspect or guarantee the quality of any business's work
- Verify insurance coverage or policy details
- Endorse or recommend any specific business
- Penalise businesses for information we don't have
We show what we know. If a business has a QBCC licence on file, we display it. If they don't, we simply don't show a credential badge — we don't mark them as "unverified" or flag them negatively. Missing information is just that: missing.
Where we get our data
All information comes from publicly accessible sources:
- Google Places — star rating, review count, business categories, photos
- Australian Business Register (ABR) — ABN status, GST registration, entity type, registration date
- QBCC Register — licence number, class, status (Queensland)
- Business-submitted data — pricing, photos, availability, service areas (from claimed profiles)
Home Done displays publicly available data and business-submitted information. Rankings are algorithmic, not editorial. We recommend getting quotes from 2-3 providers and checking credentials independently before hiring.
