Phil Whicker Roof Tiling
Phil personally answers the phone and shows up as promised — customers flag both as the reason they'd call him again.
The standout pattern across those 9 reviews is reliability: customers specifically mention that Phil answers the phone and turns up when he commits to, which several reviewers flag as the reason they'd recommend him. Jobs described in the reviews range from targeted repointing and rebedding through to full roof-and-gutter overhauls, so if your project has multiple moving parts, this crew appears set up for it. Before booking, it's worth confirming current availability and getting a written scope — not because reviews raise any concerns, but because a small team doing comprehensive jobs will have limited capacity at any given time.

About Phil Whicker Roof Tiling
Phil Whicker leads a hands-on roofing crew that handles the full spectrum of tile roof work — from rebedding and repointing ridge capping to replacing guttering, fascia, barges, and downpipes in a single engagement. The team is specifically set up for complete roof overhauls rather than one-off patch jobs, with multiple reviews describing full-scope projects that combined structural repair, moss descaling, tile replacement, and gutter upgrades in one visit. Phil himself is consistently cited for being reachable by phone and showing up when he says he will — a detail customers highlight explicitly, suggesting it's genuinely rare in the local market. The crew is noted for working with minimal disruption and leaving sites tidy, which matters when the work spans multiple days on an occupied home. With around 22 years in the trade and GST registration, this is an established sole trader operation with a small but consistent team rather than a large contracting firm. Homeowners looking for a single point of contact who will personally manage a full roof renovation — tiles, gutters, flashings, and all — are the clearest fit here.
Best for: full tile roof renovations combining structural repairs and gutter replacement, rebedding and repointing of ridge capping on established homes, and homeowners who want the business owner personally on the job from start to finish.

What types of roofing jobs does Phil Whicker's team typically take on?+
Based on the reviews available, Phil's crew handles comprehensive tile roof work rather than quick patch jobs — projects described include rebedding and repointing ridge capping, replacing broken tiles, descaling moss, and simultaneously upgrading gutters, fascia, barges, and downpipes. Several customers describe full roof renovations completed as a single engagement. This suggests the business is best suited to homeowners who need multiple roof-related issues addressed at once rather than a simple one-tile repair.
Is Phil easy to get hold of, and does he show up on time?+
Punctuality and phone availability are two of the most specifically mentioned positives in the reviews — one customer explicitly noted Phil as the 'only guy to answer a phone' and stated 'if Phil says he'll be there, he is.' Multiple reviews also mention work being completed on time. With only 9 reviews to draw from, this is a consistent pattern rather than a statistically deep one, but it does appear to be a genuine differentiator worth noting.
What do customers say about the quality of Phil's workmanship?+
Across all 9 Google reviews, the same qualities come up repeatedly: close attention to detail, tidy work sites, and honest advice on what actually needs doing rather than overselling. Specific praise covers repointing and rebedding quality, the finish on gutter and fascia replacements, and the overall appearance of completed roofs. One customer noted positive comments from neighbours and friends after the work was done. The sample is small, but there are no negative reviews in the complete pool.
Does Phil Whicker Roofing cover the wider Estella and Wagga Wagga area?+
The business is based in Estella, NSW, which sits within the Wagga Wagga region. The reviews don't specify how far the team travels for jobs, so if you're outside the immediate Estella area, it's worth confirming directly whether they service your location before requesting a quote.
Is Phil Whicker Roofing a large company or a smaller operation?+
Phil operates as a sole trader — meaning he's the business owner and a working tradesperson on the tools, not a manager overseeing a large workforce. Reviews consistently refer to 'Phil and the boys' or 'Phil and his team,' indicating a small, stable crew rather than a rotating labour hire setup. For homeowners who want the owner personally involved in their job, this structure suits that expectation well. The trade-off is that a small team may have limited capacity, so checking availability early is sensible.
